INSIGHTFUL QUESTIONS
My little Catherine is Changing she is starting to ask the sweetest thought proving questions..... Questions that I know that she has put a LOT of THOUGHT into. Questions that deserve REAL answers.
Here are just a few of the questions she has asked recently.
Mom, Today as school we looked for Leprechauns but I did not see any why???
What are Leprechauns?
(At this point I was laughing and sharing pretend information....... And then she asks the BIG question.)
******DID JESUS GIVE US LEPRECHAUNS????*******
Then just last-night at bedtime just before personal prayers, Catherine starts telling me how much she likes being a big sister and how much she loves babies. I asked her if she wanted to be a big Sister to more babies, she said, "YES"
And then just as I was turning the lights of she asks so sweetly, with lots of sincerity,
"Mom, do you want me to ask Heavenly Father to send us more babies?"
I quickly without hesitation replied NO!!!!!!!!!!!
(I wish now that I would have been more sensitive and replied with a more thoughtful no not at this time answer.)
Today Catherine went on a field trip with her class to an art show. At the art show the class met with a local artist. The artist talked to the children about his different kinds of paintings. Then the BRAVE artists aloud the children to ask him questions. Catherine started asking him sincere questions about his art work. Later after the children moved on to another exhibit, and the artist told me how much he liked and appreciated Catherine's questions.
I hear a lot of parents complain about all the WHY questions their little children ask. I can honestly say at this point I have had very few why questions I usually get more direct questions from Catherine. I like these questions best because, I find them much easier to answer and I get a little insight to what is going on in that little head of hers.

so sweet!!! She is getting to be such a big girl.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! It's great that you are writing down what she is saying. The picture of her is just precious too!
ReplyDeleteI love figuring out what children are thinking by trying to get some context behind why they asked a particular question. They have such busy little brains trying to figure out how the world works. I'm glad you're recording her questions, too. What fun things to reminisce over later!
ReplyDeleteTonight I was reading past posts on my blog when I came upon this posting. I wonder if Catherine new something I did not yet know. As it turns out I was already pregnant with Devin.
