Trevor Trevor Trevor were oh were do I begin
Four days before Christmas the children were playing a fun game called
SPIN your sibling in the office chair while Mommy and Daddy clean the kitchen!!!!
We heard the sound of Glass ornaments breaking and then......
Trevor comes running into the kitchen
"IS IT BLEEDING"
My back is turned, I hear Eric say ,
" YES IT IS BLEEDING"
"GRAB A TOWEL"
I quickly grab a towel and Eric tells me that he can see Trevor's skull,
So we make a quick call to a family friend to watch the children and off we go to the ER
Trevor received 4 stitches.
Now about Trevor's JRA. Trevor started Prednizone August 31st. I will never forget that life changing day. The morning of the 31st Trevor woke up crying and unable to walk that morning just as he had for the last few months. Later that day we made it to the pharmacy and filled his prescription and started him on the medicine. That was the last morning he woke up in crippling pain, the last day we had to carry him because he could not move. Trevor responded quickly to the medicine and started improving right away his legs evened up, his swollen joints started shrinking, Trevor started gaining a bit of weight, his labs were within the range of normal and his doctor was hopeful. THEN December came. I noticed that Trevor was loosing weight, he was becoming stiff , his inflammation was coming back and his labs were no longer normal. His body was beginning to flair again even on the medicine.
We are all disappointed that the medicine that Trevor was on was not helping him anymore . But it seems that there is a never ending supply of different kinds of medicine to help JRA we just have to find the combo that will work for Trevor. So now Trevor is taking Prednizone, Methatraxate and Enbrel. Methatexate and Enbrel are both given once a week in the form of shots. (Trevor is amazing with the shots). The focus of all three meds is to suppress his over active immune system in hopes that his body will stop attacking his joints. Suppressing the immune system is a tricky process therefor Trevor's doctor told us that Trevor is at high risk of getting sick. Illness at this time could become very serious for Trevor. Currently there are a LOT of nasty nasty germs floating about so we have decided to quarantine ourselves off from the rest of the world until all the icky germs go far away.
At this point Trevor has been on the new medicine combination for a little over three weeks. His joints are still swollen, he is still aches a lot, but his weight is not dropping. Trevor will be having labs done in a couple of weeks and we will see how much the medicine is helping. We are still hopeful that Trevor will go into remission.
Thank you for all of the support and prayers you have offered in behalf of our family.
